Hello there!
Welcome to this blog! It will be tracking the months spent this summer in Banff while I participate in the practicum program for Projection Technology at the Banff Centre of Arts. Beware though I am also doing this to practice my writing skills because it is worse than a giraffe competing in a one foot hoping competition.
Just landed at the Calgary airport. I've never seen a Canadian airport so busy! After getting off the plane it was so crowded with people that by the time we got to the baggage area our bags were already there. Sitting here now waiting for the Banff Airporter, a shuttle bus to Banff, I've seen cases holding hunting guns, skis, bicycles, and instruments all go by. What a cool place to be if all of those things together in one airport still seem in place.
I have many different questions about what Banff will bring - some educational/professional and some more personal. Like will my roommate snore, or if the experience will be inspiring and knowledgeable? I cannot be more grateful of everyone who has helped to get me here with the help of my knee, driving to Montreal for the interview, and many positive words of encouragement. It feels strange going from a school where the Faculty's culture is pro-science to something so pro-arts and be surrounded by constant creativity. I am looking forward to the change, it is definitely something that is lacking within my program, and something that I don't make enough time for on my own.
